Description
"Aerodynamics is everything" is the motto we've adopted for years, and it's also what defines the design of the new Tarmac. For the tube shapes that create the fastest frame while staying fully UCI-compliant, we drew inspiration from the Venge and our optimized profile collection, the FreeFoil Shape Library. We went back to our wind tunnel to build a modular test bike using these profiles. The result is the new Tarmac — the fastest one yet. No compromises, pure speed. On the journey to create the new Tarmac, just like with all our road racing bikes, weight was another key factor. In the past, aero bikes paid a penalty in weight — the more you reduced air resistance, the more weight you added. With the new Tarmac, our design philosophy was to keep it, straight out of the box, at or just under the UCI weight limit. Thanks to the FreeFoil Shape Library, tools like FEA analysis, and a few high-level engineering tricks, we pulled it off. Always with the goal of developing the best road racing bike out there, we used our Rider-First Engineered™ technology to make sure the new Tarmac is balanced and responsive in every frame size. Based on feedback from our athletes across three pro teams — Boels-Dolmans, Deceuninck-Quick-Step, and Bora-hansgrohe — and built on their thousands of kilometers on the road, we made some real changes to the Tarmac. A fresh balance in ride quality between the front end and the rear triangle, so that even the longest days in the saddle feel more comfortable, without sacrificing the legendary handling and responsiveness the Tarmac is known for. Our experience building the Venge also helped us create a clean, fast cockpit. Cable routing has been improved for any setup — mechanical shifting, traditional stem, round-profile handlebar, and more — while keeping the aerodynamics fully intact. The same features that make the new Tarmac easy to live with and travel-friendly.
