Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL8 2024 Frame AERODYNAMICS We use aerodynamics where it matters most, and in the process we've created our fastest road bike ever – yes, more aerodynamic than the Venge too. The front end has been optimized to get the most advantage. The fork steerer is positioned further back relative to the front of the headtube to deliver much lower aerodynamic drag. Thanks to new UCI rules, with the SL8 we were able to use the narrowest, most aerodynamic seatpost we've ever made, ensuring turbulent air in the leg area flows more easily toward the back of the bike. LIGHTNESS To create the Tarmac SL8 and deliver the most aerodynamic bike while meeting UCI minimum weight requirements, we drew inspiration from what we learned with the Aethos. The team built a 685-gram frame, 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other World Tour bike*. By focusing on maximum lightness in the seat tube, seatstay and rear of the bike, we applied what we learned designing the Aethos. The frame shapes respond so efficiently to stress that we were able to reduce material thickness, cutting out anything unnecessary. *Except that one time Kasper Asgreen raced our 585-gram Aethos frame during a Tour stage. RIDE QUALITY The Tarmac SL8's stiffness-to-weight ratio is 33% better than the SL7. The Tarmac SL8 sets a new standard for handling: it's precise in the most demanding situations and responds immediately and efficiently to your pedal input. While the areas that deliver power transfer and steering precision are stiffer than ever, in the saddle the Tarmac SL8 feels more comfortable, filtering 6% more ground vibration and letting you attack corners with a sense of agility and balance that's unmatched in the road bike world. The new Tarmac SL8 keeps the proven SL7 geometry, with the same generous 32 mm tire clearance, so you can run a higher-volume tire when you need to.
