Description

Tarmac SL8 Pro: Technical Specifications Aerodynamics or lightweight alone don't win races: what matters is speed. To achieve this speed you need to create an uncompromising combination of aerodynamics, lightweight design, stiffness and vibration damping. Thanks to complex simulations using real-world data, our Ride Science Team has verified that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest road bike on any terrain: – 16.6 seconds faster over 40 km of flat ground, 128 seconds faster on the Milano-Sanremo route, 20 seconds faster on the Tourmalet climb. AERODYNAMICS We use aerodynamics where it matters most, and in the process we've created our fastest road bike ever – yes, more aerodynamic than the Venge too. The front end has been optimized to deliver maximum advantage. The fork's steerer tube is positioned further back relative to the front of the frame's head tube to offer significantly lower aerodynamic drag. Thanks to new UCI regulations, for the SL8 we were able to use the narrowest and most aerodynamic seatpost we've ever made, ensuring that turbulent air in the leg area can flow more easily toward the rear of the bike. LIGHTWEIGHT To create the Tarmac SL8 and build the most aerodynamic bicycle while respecting UCI's minimum weight requirements, we drew inspiration from what we learned with the Aethos. The team created a frame weighing just 685 grams, 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other World Tour bike*. By focusing on maximum lightweight construction in the seat tube, seatstay and rear of the bike, we applied the lessons learned from the Aethos project. The frame's shapes respond so efficiently to stress that we were able to reduce material thickness, eliminating anything unnecessary. *Except for that time Kasper Asgreen raced on our 585-gram Aethos frame during a Tour stage. RIDE QUALITY The Tarmac SL8's stiffness-to-weight ratio is 33% better than the SL7. The Tarmac SL8 sets a new standard for handling: it's precise in the most demanding situations and responds immediately and efficiently to pedal input. While the areas that ensure power transfer and steering precision are stiffer than ever, on the bike the Tarmac SL8 is more comfortable, filtering 6% more vibration from the ground and allowing you to attack corners with a feeling of agility and balance unique in the road bike world. The new Tarmac SL8 maintains the proven geometry of the SL7 model, with the same generous 32 mm tire clearance, so you can use a larger volume tire when needed. BEYOND GENDER DIFFERENCES In reality there can be far more differences between two male cyclists than between a man and a woman. We design for the individual and our philosophy is simple: Don't create differences where none exist. Every cyclist, male or female, can benefit from the advantages of the Tarmac SL8. It's time to move beyond. The Tarmac SL8 Pro is equipped with Shimano Ultegra 8100 Di2 groupset with power meter, Roval Rapide CL II tubeless-ready wheels, SL7 stem with Roval Rapide bar: race-ready.
