Aerodynamics has been key to the development of the Tarmac and all our road bikes, but lightweight is just as fundamental. In the past, aero bikes always came with weight penalties: the more you reduced drag, the more the weight crept up. With the Tarmac, our design philosophy was to keep it at or below the UCI minimum weight limit from the very start, without sacrificing aerodynamics. And with the help of the FreeFoil Shape Library, tools like isotropic FEA analysis and a little magic from the best engineers in the game, we built a Fact 9r frame that weighs just 1010 grams — no compromises on aero, stiffness or ride quality.
