Description

Aerodynamics We use aerodynamics where it matters most, and in the process we've created our fastest road bike ever – yes, more aerodynamic than the Venge. The front end has been optimized to deliver maximum advantage. The fork steerer tube is positioned further back relative to the head tube's front face to deliver significantly lower aerodynamic drag. Thanks to new UCI rules, for the SL8 we've been able to use the narrowest and most aerodynamic seatpost we've ever made, ensuring turbulent air in the leg area flows more easily toward the rear of the bike. Lightness To create the Tarmac SL8 and realize the most aerodynamic bike while respecting UCI's minimum weight requirements, we drew inspiration from what we learned with the Aethos. The team created a 685-gram frame, 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other World Tour bike*. By focusing on maximum lightness in the seat tube, seatstay and rear end of the bike, we applied the lessons learned in the Aethos project. The frame shapes respond so efficiently to stress that we were able to reduce material thickness, eliminating anything unnecessary. *Except for that time Kasper Asgreen raced our 585-gram Aethos frame during a Tour stage. Ride Quality The Tarmac SL8's stiffness-to-weight ratio is 33% better than the SL7. The Tarmac SL8 sets a new benchmark for handling: it's precise in the most demanding situations and responds immediately and efficiently to pedal input. While the areas that deliver power transfer and steering precision are stiffer than ever, on the bike the Tarmac SL8 feels more comfortable, filtering 6% more vibration from the road and letting you attack corners with a sense of agility and balance unmatched in the road bike world. The new Tarmac SL8 maintains the proven geometry of the SL7 model, with the same generous 32 mm tire clearance, so you can run larger volume tires when you need to. Beyond Gender Differences In reality there can be far more differences between two male cyclists than between a man and a woman. We design for the individual and our philosophy is simple: Don't create differences where none exist. Every cyclist, male or female, can benefit from the advantages of the Tarmac SL8. It's time to go beyond. Specs Groupset: SRAM Red eTap AXS with power meter Wheels: Roval Rapide CLX II tubeless-ready Integrated Cockpit: Roval Rapide cockpit
