For years, time trial bikes were designed in very similar ways: flat, aerodynamic tubing, heavy frames that were hard to handle, and braking that was often approximate. For flat, fast courses, as in the old days, these traits might have been fine. With today's technically demanding courses, however, time trial bikes have to be different. We pushed right up to the limits of the UCI rules by adding disc brakes, shaving weight and refining the riding position.
