Regardless of saddle position, every cyclist can take advantage of 20mm of travel, friction-free, between the stem and steerer tube. The lowered clamp design exposes more of the seatpost to increase its flex. The Pavé seatpost 'manages' this movement for optimal vibration damping in the vertical plane. These two things together create the 'AfterShock' technology, and combined with Roubaix's rigid rear end, they create a smooth ride without compromising efficiency. The Roubaix SL8 is the most comfortable road bike ever tested by our Ride Science Team – it reduces handlebar impacts by 53% compared to other bikes in this category. With the Future Shock 3.0 cartridge the wheel floats over obstacles while you stay stable and hold your line on rough ground. Normally, a fork flexes backward on impact, causing a loss of speed.
