The bike
The new Specialized Tarmac SL9 ends the debate between aero and climbing bikes: a single frame to do both at the highest level. The S-Works FACT 12r carbon frame weighs 687 g (size 56) and the complete bike drops to around 6.1 kg, while being 4 W more aerodynamic than the SL8 at 45 km/h — about 28 seconds saved over a 100 km stage.
The aero advantage comes from a 10% reduction in frontal area, not from deep tubes: so the Tarmac silhouette stays unmistakable and the bike light and agile. It comes as a complete SRAM RED AXS build and as an S-Works frameset, including the Team Replica liveries of the pro teams. Technology
Aero with no compromise
4 W faster than the SL8 at 45 km/h (about 28 s over 100 km), achieved by cutting frontal area by 10% instead of bulking up the tubes: the Tarmac stays light, stiff and agile.
687 g of FACT 12r carbon
Every fiber ply has a structural role and adds stiffness: the S-Works frame weighs 687 g in size 56 and the complete bike gets down to around 6.1 kg.
Race-bred details
The “Win Fin” on the seat tube closes the gap to the tire; the head tube, 4 mm narrower, uses a patented offset steerer that routes both brake hoses on the same side.
