To create this race machine we adopted a totally integrated development approach, inventing an entirely new shock, building on four decades of off-road racing victories. BENCHMARK FRAME: To achieve maximum speed through perfect efficiency in power transfer and ultra-precise handling, our engineering team set a new standard in torsional stiffness and bottom bracket rigidity. The double diamond layout is the most sophisticated in Specialized history, and supports the stiffness goal by integrating the shock as a structural element. FAST SUSPENSION: The Specialized Ride Dynamics Team developed revolutionary technology for the Epic World Cup to give it the efficiency and responsiveness of a hardtail, plus the control and capability of a full. The RockShox SID Deluxe WCID (World Cup Integrated Design) shock with positive and negative air springs that adjust independently, gives the Epic WC the coveted hardtail "pop" combined with lightness that devours terrain and delivers the ability to fine-tune your setup for a specific course or personal preference. BEYOND ITS CATEGORY: The 75 mm of travel on the Epic World Cup feels like much more. When you ride the bike in firm mode, it delivers the same positive travel as a 100 mm travel bike set with 25% sag. Optimization of air volumes and damping characteristics allows the Epic WC to handle hits like a bike with more generous travel. The dedicated MegaJounce bumper provides robust end-stroke support to manage the roughest impacts. BRAIN: While the revolutionary SID Deluxe WCID shock delivers the perfect mix of absorption and firmness on the rear, up front the BRAIN is alive and well, with Position-Sensitive technology and 15mm of sag, with no need for lockout or levers to engage. LIGHTNESS: At just 1765 grams for the frame (painted, with shock and hardware), the Epic World Cup is the lightest on the market.
