Description
The new Epic 8 is the ultimate expression of speed as the sum of obstacle-handling ability, efficiency and lightness. Modern XC courses demand ever-higher performance from your bike, and that's exactly why on the Epic 8 we've further refined and honed the suspension kinematics to deliver an even more efficient pedalling experience. The dampers with custom specs and tuning are able to absorb every impact, making the Epic 8 a wolf in sheep's clothing. If you're an XC racer and your goal is maximum speed, the Epic 8 is your perfect bike. MAJOR CAPABILITY: the 120mm travel and progressive geometry make the Epic 8 extremely capable on technical trails, very fast and efficient on climbs, and incredibly responsive and snappy under acceleration. The torsional and lateral stiffness also guarantees perfect handling precision. WHAT BUMPS?: Compared to the previous model, the Epic 8 absorbs 12% more impact forces and vibrations, so you fatigue less and can use your energy to push harder on the pedals. RIDE DYNAMICS: The Specialized Ride Dynamics Team developed a custom tune for the Epic 8's damper, whose characteristics elevate the holistic riding experience. The specific tuning developed alongside the leverage ratios and renewed kinematics improves the ride exponentially. BIOMECHANICAL EFFICIENCY: By optimising the Epic 8's kinematics, the Specialized Ride Dynamics Team has reduced pedalling-induced movement by 20% while keeping the suspension active for more effective impact management. This allows the rider to maintain the most efficient pedalling position. The result is the most efficient full-suspension bike we've ever built. MORE WITH LESS: With the Epic 8 we haven't added a single gram of weight to improve its features. All models now include SWAT 4.0 and an integrated headset lockout to prevent frame damage in the event of a crash. The new S-Works Epic 8 frame is even 76 grams lighter, despite adding these details.
