Specialized Roval Rapid Cockpit The Roval Rapide Cockpit is much more than the fastest way to cross the finish line. It's the fastest attack weapon we've ever built, with massive aerodynamic gains, shaving an additional four watts off the already blazing-fast combination of the Rapide handlebar with the Tarmac stem. But delivering a race-winning advantage takes more than pure aerodynamics. The goal for the Roval engineering team was simple: the Rapide Cockpit had to be the fastest handlebar we'd ever built, no compromises. It's aerodynamic, lightweight, stiff, and designed in collaboration with the world's best athletes and our Retül Fit experts, so you can grab that victory. AERODYNAMICS: removing the interface components between the stem and the handlebar allowed us to design the handlebar profile as a true airfoil shape. We optimized this airfoil to deliver maximum advantage in clean air at the speeds found in long solo breakaways and full-gas World Tour sprints. While a four-watt improvement might sound small, it translates into a 32 cm advantage over a 250 m finishing sprint. When races are won by throwing your bike, that's a race-winning difference. LIGHTWEIGHT AND STIFF: by removing the stem-to-handlebar interface components, the Rapide Cockpit is 50 grams lighter (100 mm x 420 mm) than the Rapide handlebar and Tarmac stem combination. Built from premium high-modulus carbon fiber, delivering the ideal stiffness for the biggest and fastest sprinters in the World Tour, the Rapide Cockpit has a higher stiffness-to-weight ratio than any two-piece system we've ever made. POSITION: the drawback of one-piece cockpits has long been fit, but we worked with our Retül Fit professionals and top athletes to make sure nearly every rider can find their perfect position on the bike. We offer 15 different stem and handlebar combinations, all at -6 degrees, so we cover the vast majority of race positions. The radius from the top to the drops has been sculpted for wrist freedom of movement both out of the saddle and tucked in an aero position, while the bend and flare mirror our beloved Rapide handlebar.
