Description
The Chisel is the lightest dual-suspension aluminium bike in the world. It is 18.4% lighter than similar models in its category and, thanks to the kinematics and geometry of its big sister Epic 8, the Chisel delivers outstanding performance on every ride. SPEED METAL: Thanks to D'Aluisio Smartweld, the Chisel boasts the lightest XC aluminium frame in its category. Every frame tube is heavily manipulated and features differentiated wall thicknesses and profiles that deliver stiffness where it's needed, for efficiency, vibration absorption, comfort and optimal control. CAPACITY: With 110mm travel suspension tuned by Ride Dynamics, the Chisel's high-performance pedigree can be traced directly back to the Epic 8, our World Cup race machine. The advanced suspension kinematics of the Epic 8, the Ride Dynamics tuning and the progressive geometry refined on World Cup technical tracks are all found in the Chisel, making it more than capable of handling different terrains with confidence and speed. EFFICIENCY: The Chisel is the most efficient bike in its category, thanks to the geometry and kinematics developed for the Epic 8. The advanced seat tube positions the rider in an optimal pedalling position. The optimised anti-squat reduces pedal bob. Put it all together and you'll understand how the Chisel turns every watt through the pedals into maximum forward motion. SMOOTHER IS FASTER: We designed the Flex Stay rear ends so that the suspension would be among the best in its category, while eliminating the extra weight and pivot maintenance of traditional designs. Extensive field and lab testing has shown that the Chisel has achieved the impossible: the efficiency, control and lightness of Flex Stay design – common on carbon bikes – with an advanced alloy. HYDROFORMED ALLOY: The hydroformed seat tube, in one piece, includes the bearing seat and the bottom bracket shell, unlike a traditional alloy bike where these two components are welded together. This way, the Chisel shaves off additional material and weight.
